You don't have to worry too much about breaking the glass on those windows, it's almost impossible to smash them. Ive dropped them on the floor when fitting them before.

 Re: 2CV 602ccm 1974
I tried to get one out of a car we were scrapping The sidepanels were laying flat on the ground and even jumping on the glass didn't do anything. We couldn't get the glass out. The car was from 1967 er repainted by hand several times so i think the paint will have gone between the rubber and the body...

 Re: 2CV 602ccm 1974
after talking to a friend of mine,he said to grease or oil the rubber from the outside and then they will slide in easier and the oil will protect the inside of the panel from rust. He's got a point there

 Re: 2CV 602ccm 1974
Use Vaseline or similar, grease or oil will make the rubber expand. I use a squirty bottle with washing up liquid and water in although people do say that isn't ideal either.

 Re: 2CV 602ccm 1974
I use waxoyl for putting tyres on rims & window rubbers in, nice & slippery, anti rust & don't seem to affect the rubber. I believe washing up liquid has a hefty dose of salt in it...

Hi Vasil, that's interesting, I've always used red rubber grease when rebuilding drum brake systems... http://www.redrubbergrease.com/
