Sam, yes, as the car was first registered as "4-door sedan", i had to declare the modification made by previous owner, and when i took it to the police verification they found that i was missing a plaque number that goes on the chassis... a whole different proceeding involving too much burocracy and loads of cash, they now gave me a new number that has to be recorded onto he chassis itself (wich is a pain in the arse if you want to change the chassis sometime in the future).

If you want to change a car's shell you have to own the papers of the new shell, wich sometimes don't exist at all beeing the cars rather old and with many owners through their history. Most meharis have that problem here as they where sold as after purchase kits and often are registered as 3cv or Ami 8.

Matt, i don't have a home built Ami, my other car is a bicycle :)... and yes, there is a market for this cars still, as they're cheap to buy and to maintain, gas is not cheap so the little engines are appriciated. In my city there are at least 10 mechanics that specialize on 2cv's and derivates.

I agree, VW Brasilia are really cool cars, although there are very few here.

Love your car, are these missing to improve cooling?

@your gas prices, you can convert your A-type into a petrol/e85 flexifuel car relatively easy and cheap.

You could say that, i bought it like that and it's one of those things you always leave for later and never gets done properly...

e85 is not available here, the alternative is to use natural gas, it affects the power of the engine but it's so much cheaper than fuel.

Here's an ami8 from citroneros forum with the natural gas gear on:
