Pretty easy, but bear in mind if you're touring for a while you're probably going to need the bootspace you've lost.

would you need to create a frame to go under the body because on the 4x4s the chassis is different.

Duncan did it to one of his cars after it got rear ended... might have a picture somewhere...
cant be too hard to do though, space difference? not much, i never use under my false boot floor, only the spare wheel is under there. i guess if you stick a spare on the bonnet for front traction or on a roof rack then you wont miss the space that you could potentially use.
its the best/easiest solution for rotten back ends... oh, remember that it might expose the tank that little bit more than previously.
