Re: 2CV8
A mate of mine is building one. Lots of pictures on my Facebook ( http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/albu ... =540207428). I rode over to see him yesterday, but he was out. The bodyshell wasn't there, so it must be away for painting (matt black). I was hoping to borrow it for Registers Day, but is there one this year?

Re: 2CV8
Echo that! I really really want one!
James - give us some details.... chassis, running gear etc. Looks like a really tidy build.

Re: 2CV8
It's mainly an MGB chassis. The MGB has the same wheelbase and track as a 2CV, so no modifications were needed.
The engine is a 3.5 litre Rover V8 (as found in the MGB V8), so it slotted straight in. The radiator is even in its original place! All the hoses etc are standard MGB V8.
The steering column is from a Vauxhall Nova with electric power steering. It's been fitted with an LPG conversion so a new tank has been fabricated. The inner rear wheel arches have been modified because the rear wheels are wider than on a 2CV.
The interior and bulkhead have had to be altered, but the idea is that from the outside it looks completely standard (apart from the wheels).
He is an ex-Citroën main dealer and restored an Ami 8 a few years ago. He also has a 1926 Citroën B12 pickup, a Daimler V8 engined Ford Pop, an E-type (all of which he either built or restored) and a rather nice CX GTi and a fairly new Vauxhall of some kind with flashy paint and a modified engine.
The 2CV8 is to be his every day runaround. It'll be matt black so he doesn't have to polish it, the dogs can hop in and out of the back and the power steering is because he says he's not getting any younger. As a clue, he built the Ford Pop in the 1970s.

Re: 2CV8
That sounds familiar, I think I remember you posting some pics of it somewhere else some time ago. When's he expecting to finish it and will we get to see it at any of the 2cv events this year?

He wasn't there on Saturday but I might pop in again this Saturday (Max, do you want to tag along?). He doesn't do 2CV events, but I might manage to borrow it. As the National isn't so far away, he might come along for the day.
