My Dad and I just went to get a few bits from this poor E reg white Special. Though we had the bonnet and a couple of wheels it's mostly all still there. The shell's now rubbish due to being picked up, but there are plenty of usable bits on it still, including a galvanised chassis (possibly a Frome one??), what looks like a pretty newish pair of rear shocks and a genuine exchange engine. It looked like too good a car to be scrapped IMO, but hopefully lots of bits can go onto other cars now.

The yard is in Heeley, Sheffield, and can be contacted on 07970134558.

I don't *think* this 2cv would have had an MOT. At least, if it had got an MOT it would have been another Stevie Wonder special... It would have only needed a bit of welding to get it through a test though. It's not been taxed since 2003.

Would be worth offering the guy a cople of 100 quid to pop it on a trailer

Chassis engine and 'box, rack arms cans in fact the only bit id chuck is the shell ,if its been forklifted, and exhaust

Yup, it's a T reg Berlingo. I did think about you as I was trampling over it.

You know what, thinking about it, the 2cv did have a suspiciously new-looking rear foglight on it. I am now thinking that maybe yes, it probably was Crappage scheme car. So, does anybody in 2CVGB (disc brake registrar perhaps) know where the last owners of E758YET lived, so that we can go round and throw rotten eggs and dead hedgehogs at them?

If we had anywhere to keep it that's exactly what I'd have done. It's not just that though, as all the interior is pretty much mint. Indeed, it is (was) a very complete and original car. It looks like whoever changed the chassis did a nice job of the usual shell repairs as well. What a waste.

Unfortunately, this Bl**dy Labour government has ensured that can't be done, by bring out laws to stop vehicles in scrapyards from being liberated  Before I had my car restored last year, I'd found a really decent shell in a scrapyard near Brum, I asked the chap how much for the shell, only to be told he couldn't let me have it(new DVLA Rules). Crazy thing is, the chassis and running gear had left the yard and it was only the shell left(still, I had four excellent doors for £40 :D )

Jono, go and offer them a ton or so for it, the shell isn't buggered, you can easily get them straight again after being HIAB'd. If you can't take the whole car, I suggest you go down with the local club and rape if for every part it's still got.
