Post Uninsured Minorities
After what happened to Suzanne:

There must be something that can be done... we spend our whole lives paying insurance, tax, mot and for the upkeep of our cars for us to be hit by an uninsured minority.

There are other uninsured and illegal road users where the rules are all wrong (yes jono i know some cyclists are honest and pay insurance) - some bikes, motorbility scooters (some the size of smart cars!) horses etc... why do they not have to be tax and tested and insured the same as us?!

This subject really gets on my t1ts! Probably as i have always paid over the odds for insurance as i have a concience and some respect for other people.

Maybe you should write to Topgear, or the council or someone who will make a fuss... grrrr!

The trouble with spazwagons is the same as horses and bikes, there's no central database on which they must be registered. I know that here in the UK we have the DVLA for cars and motorvehicles, who can be a major pain in the arse, but at least if somebody stupidly reverses into the front of your car (as happened to me recently) then as long as you have the reg number, they can be traced and brought to justice. A goon on a mobility scooter or horse can do what they like and there is effectively no way to trace them. Other than apprehending them with a citizens arrest like Zanne did you are stuck and usually lose out. With horses it's harder to arrest them, but at least if they cause an accident and are killed in it you can eat them for lunch, i suspect theres a lot of meat on a horse, and they could be shipped out to Africa to feed the starving.

I have no problems with the 'mobility challenged' having scooters, and I think they are a good idea but they must be used responsibly and should be registered. Maybe the users should have a basic training course as part of the purchase like you do with 50cc Motorbikes in the UK.

Theres an old boy who zooms round on his spaz chariot in town. He ALWAYS rides on the pavemets, and assumes he has right of way at all times presumably because he's a spazzer. and woe betide any mere pedestrian who get in his way, they get a right mouthful off him! Until my boss, who I happened to we walking with at the time, returned fire and told him to f*ck off the pavements or else he would chuck him, and his scooter in the river!

Felt a bit better after that!
