I'm looking at towing a friend's 2CV Fourgonnette about 40 miles so it can have some work done to the engine by a 2CV mechanic. I'll be using a towing bar for the job. Is there anything that can cause problems with the engine/transmission, or is a 2CV quite happy to be towed along?

As long as there are no underlying faults, and there is oil in the gearbox, it should be fine.

When I bought the Bedouin, I towed it from Lincoln to Wales (Pontypool) with an 'A' frame.

Thanks awfully chaps.
I did find an old thread about towing with an A-frame. One of the guys stated the gearbox exploded on their 2CV, which is most disconcerting.

The welfare of the towee doesn't concern me. I'll be toastie in the Golf

A steering lock is probably not something fitted to a 1969 Fourgonnette, thankfully 8-)
