Re: Hibernation I prepped my daily car yesterday; engine & gearbox oil and a hot wax with Collinite 845. That'll keep the wet/salt/mud off  Terry wrote: I find the interior of a warm insulated dry 2CV a very comforting place to be in cold weather I couldn't agree more!

Re: Hibernation I realize this is an old thread but I do nothing special to my old cars when I put them up for the winter. The only two things I do is add some of that ethanol protector stuff to the tank (have no idea if it works) top off the tank with petrol, and hook a trickle charger to the battery. That's it.
Then before getting it out of hibernation, check the tire pressure and fluids.
Some people like to go to the extent of placing the car up on jack stands. I'm not sure why this is recommended. To prevent flat spots from developing? I think this was more of a problem with bi-ply tires than radials.
The biggest problem I've ever had with putting my cars up for winter is the battery going flat. A $9.00 trickle charger has saved a many of my car batteries from going bad. I found if you can recharge a dead battery within a week or so, it can usually be saved but once it goes flat and stays flat for more than a month, it's stuffed.
