Post Low Emission Zones
A piece on the BBC Scottish news today was reporting Glasgow's introduction of a LEZ by the end of 2022. That's fine with me as I don't want to visit Glasgow anyway, but there is talk that Aberdeen is also looking at bringing in a similar ban of older vehicles in the city. I currently use Northlink Ferries to get to/from UK mainland/Shetland via Aberdeen Harbour. Will it mean I can no longer use the 2CV on that route when the LEZ is introduced? Surely there'll be some kind of exemption for such a circumstance? I'm not worried in the slightest at the moment but thought I'd bring it up for discussion.

Interesting point Jonathan.

Making the assumption that LEZ schemes are are based on a similar model, I just discovered the Shedouin (KDN998S) is exempt from charges for London! The Shed was registered 40 years ago this month. :)

'No charge due for this vehicle
This vehicle either meets the required emission standards, is exempt from the scheme or is subject to a 100% discount.'

Not being sure if it is because of the 40 years time scale, I put in Girlie's reg C735GRL, and got the same message.

The site also indicates that no vehicles are banned from the zone, but have to pay a fee.

Doesn't mean Scotland will adopt this scheme though, but does sound promising. :D

I clicked the link Roger and for London it appears to be large vans, HGVs, and buses that are affected. According to Glasgow City Council, private cars will also be affected by this introduction. All diesel engined cars built before Sept 2014 (Euro 5 and older) and petrol engined cars built before 2005 (Euro 4 and older) will be banned.

In Germany they are also very strict in keeping the zones but oldtimers are exempt.
