New 2CV owner from United States here!
Hello folks! I'd like to introduce myself. My name is James and I live in East Tennessee near in the United States. I have been into older Fiats (Fiat left the US market in 1983 but later returned with the Fiat 500) such as the 124 Spider (about three), 131, X 1/9. About four years ago I got the opportunity to buy a Trabant 601 I had imported from Hungary which I had wanted for 20 years but had to wait until the car became 30 years old before I could import and register it. So the other car on my (always wanted but never though I'd have the opportunity to own) was a 2CV. So the opportunity came a couple of weeks ago when one showed up locally for sale. I drove the car and fell in love with it and decided I had to have it. Here is my main Photobucket page, Some of these vehicles I no longer have. : http://s222.photobucket.com/g00//user/t ... t/library/Scroll down and you will find my 2CV. These were photos I took before I bought the car. Someone went crazy with the paste wax and I've been using wax remover to get rid of the residue. It still needs more detailing before I take any photos of it. Or if you want to get to the 2CV, click here: http://s222.photobucket.com/g00//user/t ... t=2&page=1I'm mechanical inclined but have no experience with 2CVs so I have lots of questions about this car so I'm sure they will sound trivial to veteran 2CV owners so please be kind to me...

Yes, welcome to i2f and the weird and very wonderful Deux Chevaux. You'll find many knowledgeable folk here, not least Ken and Sean. Just ask away, but also use the search feature at the top of the page to see if a question has already been asked and replied to.
You're not wrong about the forum being very quiet recently, Pete. For starters, where's Neil? Hasn't been here in over a year.

Drop kicked Facebook at the start of the year. Best decision I have made so far in 2016.

I have yet to scan photos from the 2000 trip but here are some from my 97 adventure, starting from Atlanta Georgia, London, through France and Switzerland, Italy: http://s222.photobucket.com/user/turbof ... t=9&page=1I'm the younger guy (age 27) in the photo standing next to the Dyane at the Lidl store.
