Hi,
Just received my V11 reminder. Expecting zero tax rate as it's 40 years old I was surprised to see that it is quoted as the full amount. I thought this would automatically default to zero on line.
Not so easy. Apparently I have to take the V5 and MoT into the post office, to change the classification to Historic Vehicle, on the 1st of April as that's when the 40 year rolling historic vehicle status is introduced with the budget.
Can't complain about the free tax but just hope the local post office knows about the changes.
My car is registered just after the 1 January 1975 so they have to wait for the budget to confirm that the 40 year rolling status applies.

Well, to anyone who is interested. All went well.
I tried on the 31 March but the post office couldn't do it. this is due to the changes that prevented the transfer of road tax to a new owner. You can no longer tax a car a few days before the end of the month if there is a change in owner or class of the vehicle. This is to insure that the DVLA get the double tax for the month on change of ownership.
However on the 1st of April I went back again and they accepted that the 2CV was eligible and sent the registration doc off to be changed and taxed the car for free.
I have to assume it's taxed as, of course, there is no longer a disc.
Regards
Don

You can check if the car is showing as taxed on the DVLA website set up for it. Go to vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk

I did try to copy/paste the link but my mobile wouldn't do it.

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for the link.
It says "Tax Not Due"
So I guess I'm ok. Just waiting for the revised V5.
Cheers
Don
