Post subject:  What's it worth?

A friend in France bought a "barn find" last year and has almost completely restored it, but sadly he has suddenly died. I think his family may be wanting to sell the car and I'm thinking of making an offer, but have no idea what it may be worth (hoping they don't either!) it's in France on French plates and has just passed its CT.
I think it is a 1961 AZ, with 435 engine, suicide doors, 4 light, "modern" bonnet, combined speedo/ wiper. Don't know the VIN but can try to find out.

I'd imagine it's a 425, not a 435 which is very different. Hard to value from the photo, anything from €2000-€5000, depending who wants it and how much. 'Modern' bonnet is correct post 61 I think, Suicide doors are pre 64? It looks about right for its year just an odd colour.

435 was a typo, sorry. Colour obviously not original, can't remember if it was grey or a very dirty blue (if that was used in 61), my friend sprayed it himself. He stripped down the engine, replaced the wiring loom and lots of other bits; the only problem was the speedo which wasn't accurate, he was in the process of sorting that.
I have more pics but the file size is too big to post apparently.
He paid the farmer €400 I think.

Nice car I like the rearbumper acc. I think Russel is right, if you can get it for 2k you have a bargain, but if you give 4k no man is overboard..

We can't sniff at the chassis, floors and feetboard, innerwings etc., so if they are replaced also and well done   it is worth even the 3k....... if the paintwork is an art of its own (so not with a roller) it is up to 4.. If the engine and gearbox are redone and look tidy and shiny is is up to 5.. all my opinion and Dutch prices (but hey I think they are almost the same everywhere by now)..

So it is hard to tell from 1 (cool) pic..

If you want to know more you can receize your other foto's (for example with paint) and put them in here....

bon chance with it

I think the floors and boot floor were replaced, chassis was sound.

Looks like a pretty reasonable restoration to me with lots of new parts. Got to be worth €4000, but I'd start the haggling at, say, €3000.
