Has anybody found any LED stop/tail bulbs that do a passable impersonation of two different light outputs? The cheapest eBay ones I experimented with before seemed almost the same whatever they were supposed to be showing. I'd quite like it to be obvious if I brake while the side lights are on.

I guess not two bulbs?

I have tried many types in my various motorcycles - none seem to last very long, indeed a lot shorter lifespan than an incandescent bulb.

Are you intending to use them as a power saving measure ?

The only ones I would trust now are the complete lamp units as fitted to lorries but this would not look original.

I think Goffy sells some LED boards that you could glue inside the lamp housings, it's always interesting to look around his website anyway.

I have been thinking about putting them in the 2cv for a while, because of the power saving, assumed longer life, and the, admittedly microscopic, quicker illumination time. But the question was actually prompted by wanting to fit one in a bicycle lamp that I fear might melt if I use an incandescent bulb.

I've had some in mine for a few years now. I got them from 2cv Stuff I think. Really bright and they've lasted ages.
Oddly the LED side lamp bulbs didn't last very long so after a couple ppairs of those I gave up.

I'm sure there must be good ones out there, but the ones I've looked at so far were a bit rubbish. Same brightness for both functions, and not all the LEDs worked, they were very cheap direct from China though. Will try looking for some branded ones in the UK, trouble is they need to be physically quite small for the application I have in mind.

I think we run them in the race car Joolz, only ones we couldn't make work properly were the rear indicators so there standard bulbs, think I got them from ebay, one of the UK sellers as they were better quality than the others!

You need an LED flasher unit... that's what we use ;)

And I imagine you can get decent ones, probably from some one like Osram, if they're SMDs that's what most OEMs are now using.
