Post Mclaren Autosport BRDC award
So as some of you may know Jake Dalton, a good friend of mine has been racing the BRDC F4 championship, he did really well in the first half of the season, leading the championship. This good fortune changed quickly as he had mechanical and electrical failures (it's a brand new series so they were still having teething issues.) like broken driveshafts and a faulty steering wheel meaning he couldn't change gear. Those issues along with some set up issues with the car lead to Jakes performance seeming poorer and poorer eventually sliding down to 6th in the championship, sometimes struggling to even finish near the top 10.

It was evident that something was not right so Richard and Jake took the controversial decision to change teams (some of you may have seen him testing on Friday before Snetterton) while not commenting on the reason for this move the results spoke for them selves. The first race that Jake did in the new car he finished first, and by 5 seconds - a huge margin in a series where every car is running a controlled engine and chassis with only small set up changes allowed.

Jake is now back on form, however it is very unlikely with the points difference that he will finish anywhere near where he could have with a consistently well set up car. This probably means Jake won't get the recognition he deserves and therefore will struggle to race next year, however he has been nominated for the Mclaren Autosport BRDC award, which could significantly help with the funding issue and allow him to race in NEC Renault, this could lead to GP2 and eventually F1.

So I'd like to ask if you could vote for Jake, as a favour for me and to help a future star.

To do this please email, autosport.editorial@haymarket.com with the name Jake Dalton, using the subject line 'nominations'.

Thanks

1996 Xantia - never lend your car to someone, they may write it off.
