 help needeed from the yoof can one actually use an android phone without signing your kidneys away to Google? huawei android hacked and unlocked from Vodaphone ( cost less than £70 that's "why" before you ask  )

Re: help needeed from the yoof Maybe? Create a disposable google account so you can do the initial phone setup - then use non-google web services once you're in?
Mildly less evil than an Apple device surely?

Is an option, but still a google account that you need BTW. kidney's are still mine I hope.. didn't read the terms and conditions when activating my android phones... :

And why is Google any less evil than Apple? its a Huawei phone a work of pure evil by the PRC. so no doubt all my childish sniggering and posting pictures of crappy bits of broken 2cv on t'internet is keeping the little red spooks busy. as for business espionage they will hear first hand what a pile o shite their cheaply made plumbing products are when i phone up victoria plumb/bathstore to tell them.

Obviously, you can't then sync stuff - calendar/contacts - with a gmail account, but you can certainly set up a non-gmail email account via IMAP. There might be other stuff that's a bit less smooth, p'raps the Play store.
