The scheme ends in March next year IIRC?

To be honest, it's mostly just utter tat that's coming into us on the "Scrappage" scheme, knackered Pug 306s', Escrote van, couple of sheddy Mk 3 Fiestas and (sorry Russ) a 1995 Merc C220 Diseasle which sadly, was rather tidy. :(

Doesn't bother me Jon, if I could've claimed the scrappage scheme on Mercedes classic car sales thing I'd have weighed the Ami in against one without a second thought.

I read in the paper this week that the funds the Government have allocated for this scheme will apparently run out in August, leaving the manufacturers to come up with the entire £2k per deal to keep the scheme going instead of the £1k they have to now.

Expect the 'Scrappage Scheme' to be history by the end of the summer.
:D

If you go back about 10 years, there were about 36,000 2cv/Dyane/Ami on British roads and they were very cheap to buy. Now there are about 7,000, roughly split equally SORN/Taxed and the prices have now started to reflect that situation. Rarity is having an impact on prices, so it will with BXs and other such stuff. As has been said, by Russ, I believe, this won't really have a big effect on the 'old car' scene. But if it does, it'll have the beneficial effect of improving the marques desirability and so 'market value'.

It has already 'improved market vale' of any A-series which was owned for 12 months+ and taxed. They are all now worth £2000. I personally will not outbid the govt. for them, i don't have the money to, and if I did I wouldnt go round buying up any car which was in the offing for the scheme purely to 'save' it. I doubt anybody else who's complaining about it would stump up £2000 for that shoddy old B either.

I don't believe 2cv values going up are benificial.

Me neither. I think any percieved advantages of owning a vehicle which is becoming ever more desirable/valuable would be negated by opportunist chancers jacking up the price of spares and used parts.
