Post subject:  Bloody mechanics

Don't believe what I discovered today.

Mehari arrives with fucked engine. Advice to fix it but owner takes off to buy used engine. Back a week later dropping an engine ''only done'' 40.000 clicks. Asked me to reseal the entire engine before fitting it in his Mehari booked in for next week.
Turned out that he paid 500 euros including 2 tires. What a rip off. Bloody hell, this is sold and done by a so called professional. Haha what a joke. No wonder mechanics have a bad image

ah now, see, there are mechanics, and there are engineers.Your mechanic will probably do something like that, but an engineer,oh no,not in a million years ;) .
I would class myself as an engineer,with a conscience :) .
There are too many people out there that are only there to make themselves alot of money,no matter what. Then there are people that are genuine, will gladly help other people for little reward, and will remain that way no matter what.

Lots of mechanics today just change parts or look at computer. The true old professional will soon disappear from main stream garages. I took my first wife's car into the garage because it was knocking now and again and they just plugged in the computer and said no nothing wrong. I was not convinced and found a small split on the vacumn hose to the servo and now and again it would open up and let more air in. Changed it and hey presto no knock....

More shit

King pin bottom plug welded. Thread fucked, plug dropping out. What to do? Oh ya weld the bloody thing solid. What a joke.
Pin loose too. Fitted new hub and pin with 17.2 mm, next time new suspension arm.
