In the van I've had a Welsh dresser (in two parts) and most of a Fiat Panda (in many, many parts!)
In my old red Special, I've had a fridge and a gas cooker (seperately) both in through the top. I've also carried a 12' roll of carpet from the passenger footwell and out of the boot, and several doors for stripping, sticking out of the roof, resting on the centre bar
My girlfriend's car routinely carries a mannequin torso, complete with dress, strapped in to the back seat

I took a set of folding ladders which just fitted across the back of the front seats, power tools, bags of plaster, cans of paint, along with varies house cleaning products, food and small items of furniture. All of which filled every inch in the rear, boot and front passenger area of my 2cv. Followed by a drive from Staffs to SW France. In France she has made several journeys minus the rear and front passenger seats,to carry 4 2.2 metre worktops, bathroom sink/cabinet unit. Kitchen units, timber and a freezer at various times. To say nothing about the junk and rubbish transported to the tip.

I love to watch peoples faces when you wheel a trolley load out of the DIY upto a 2cv,then proceed to load it in and drive off! Priceless :-)

When restoring a 2CV back in the early 90's I needed to replace rotten inner rear wings, which weren't at that time available. Ken Hicks at the 2CV Cottage in Harpenden had a good back half of a 2CV (from B post backwards) which I bought off him.

To get it home I managed to fit the rear half of the 2CV into the back of my 2CV. Had to cut it down the Centreline and load each "Quarter" in from the top. This meant I had to remove the roof and bootlid on my car. The bootlid slotted in a gap somewhere and the roof/ rear window was rolled up and put on the front seat.

My cunning plan came unstuck when it started to rain heavily on the way home, but that was just my luck really.

I've taken most of an entire scrap 2cv to the tip in the back of another 2cv a few times. Once they get to the point where the cab is rotten enough to fold up by hand and the rest will cut with a grinder, it's actually not that difficult. :)

Not unusual for me is PA system (4 JBL loudspeakers 15inch, active mixingtabel, suitcase filled with cables and mics, two monitors 12inch, speaker and microphonestands) flightcase with wireless micsystems, one electronic piano, piano stand, seat, a rolling jack and a small trolley.

I can only do that when I take the right-front-seat out.

This is by the way the reason I put the 'Esch' on the back of my starship, I needed the room.
