One for the van history buffs!
I've been trying to date my van - does anyone know when they started putting a shelf in the unused spare wheel locker in the acad?
The paperwork for mine says '81, but i don't have a shelf in the locker, which as far as i understood was only in the very early acads...
Hope someone can help!

Does your van not have the 4-digit ORGA or RP number stenciled on the bulkhead? According to the RP number on my old Acadiane it was built 7th July 1981. If yours does have the number pump it into this calculator: http://www.citroen-ds-id.com/gen/Gen_Organr.htmlI'm sure someone will be along in a moment to tell me otherwise, but I always assumed that all Acadianes had the shelf in the locker.

I bought one new in March 1980, I had to make my own shelf, so was not fitted then.

If you're meaning the 4-digit number in white beside the washer bottle then i don't have one there. could it be anywhere else? (Not that i'd find it easily - my bulkhead has been black with dirt ingrained into the stonechip paint stuff since the day i got it )

Can't pin it down absolutely, but definitely either '82 or '83 model year. The level of soundproofing in the engine bay (around the scuttle under the fresh air intake) was increased about this time as well. Could all be coincidental with deleting the fresh air 'scoop', hence X-reg. on.

My 1982 X reg one does have the shelf, if that helps at all?

Re: One for the van history buffs!
Thanks Jono! X-Reg. it is then.
Does yours have the extra sound deadening around the 'trough' under the fresh air intake?

I'm pretty sure it does, but I'd have to check.

Re: One for the van history buffs!
Thanks for the extra info, chaps! It looks like the paperwork for my van might actually be vaguely accurate then. Its a W reg, 1981, so it must be just before the switch happened. And 'extra' sound deadening? Mine doesn't have ANY!
