So as we probably all know by now, Tony Jackson's online cave of wonder has closed down. This, along with several other 'hubs', have been fantastic sources of information for us all over the years, however as people lose interest in the scene or, (lets be honest here) die off, these resources are slowly being lost to us.

From my many many hours of using this forum's 'search' feature, I've realised that so many of the various diagrams etc that people are looking for have been uploaded to this very community, but the forum sadly lacks the ability to search for attachments.

Is there any way the mods/admin could give read permissions to the attachments table to someone (myself or another), so that an attempt could be made to catalogue these nuggets of gold and create some sort of master archive? I know that many people will also have good copies of the information on their own computer (or even in hard copy), and if they were willing to contribute their collections, i really do think we could have a fantastic archive of data, possibly even a rival of 2cvgb's ;) I would gladly be willing to donate the time to such an endeavour if the possibility was there.

Just a thought...

That is good idea.

In past years I was scanning my books from my archive . Than one day, I found Tony Jackson`s web site... And was fantastic source of information... I stopped scanning my own books .

I have a lot of Tony´s files downloaded ... for my own purpose. I can share it ... if anybody need it.

I think it'd be a good thing to have, what format should it take? A seperate forum in the tech section which users are free to add their own scans to?

Maybe... or perhaps a separate section for scans, which could be joined by approved technical stickies and step-by-step how-tos, such as your suspension can renovation guide etc.

Ironically, all the photos from that we're on my old Facebook account, which have been removed! (Next time I rip some cans up ill do the pics again).

It certainly seems like a worthwhile endeavour, especially if it involves minimal effort from us to start and maintain.

I think that's the key - if it's a ball ache to set up and run then there would be no point doing it. After all, this is a labour of love, not a job.
