 435 to 602
ok, its been on my mind for a while
i love the little 435 and its ok if you rev it and don't see a hill.. but if you see a hill or don't rev it, it is a little hard work, after driving my 602 charleston i thought it would be ok but, im not sure if i can live with it or not, i prefer the dyane to the 2cv plus the dyane is tax exempt. so if i came across a 602 lump with gearbox how easy would it be to change?
my 435 is a drummer, and i guess unless i find a drummer gearbox its a change to disc aswell, how hard is this?i guess i will need the inner drive shafts at least will i need to change the master cylinder?. its up for mot next month so if it fails miserably ill be unsure what do. The gearbox will have to be changed as the ratios are different. If i change to a 602 will i de value the car? I know samuel thinks that the swap is not a good idea, i may just have to live with the 435 but an interested to know if its a bastard of a job or not?

Don't think it's a difficult job. You'll need a drum brake gearbox if you want to avoid changing the master cylinder and the rear wheel cylinders and all the seals in the pipework. I put a later drum brake 'box into the Ricard Ami and I didn't need to change the outer driveshafts, the later 6 bolt driveshafts mated up fine with the earlier outer shafts. Other than that, it should be reasonably straightforward. As for devaluing it ... well, possibly. But don't forget, it's nothing that can't be reversed in an afternoon's work, as long as you keep all the bits. Personally, I'd go for something usable and practical over something original but not - quite - adequate any day of the week.

 Re: 435 to 602
I would try to get MOT the way it is 435.... When it passes MOT then change the engine.
You can make a drummer from the 602 gearbox, with the drums from the 435. it is only 2 times 12 bolts..... then you can swap the whole, I always do the opposite 435 with discs for off-roading.... Then you don't need to change everything to LHM.......

Jw= very kind I may do what lpgo says initially a) see what it fails on b4 I spend in ness b) to save up a bit after not working for a bit
Lpgo= very interesting seeing as I am re building the brakes this would make sense only I have double Carden joints from the stub axles is this still possible?

I think it is possible but you need to change the whole double Cardens, you need to messure the distance the axle-holders are going into the box, because the diff is aligned with it!!!! hope you understand what I'm saying....

 Re: 435 to 602
I think so although to be honest the double cardens are a pain in the ass it makes the brakes hard work to work on so I think I would like to change to a bolt on drive shaft if possible
