Post O/T but useful - Travel insurance
There's been some debate on the insurance thread about travel insurance. In all the trips abroad I;ve done I;ve never had any - is it worth it?

The car (and up to £1000 of possessions) are covered on my car insurance. My cameras by my home insurance and should the car die, my recovery policy will get me home... so what would I gain from having travel insurance? Is it in case I get ill?

I'm confused

And (lol) how many policies are going to be totally invalidated by the fact the car doesn't lock/have a proper roof? I know my instruments aren't covered if they're in a convertible...

Travel insurance is useful if you get delays crossing the Channel, or even if you have a breakdown, but definitely worth it for the medical insurance side of things - can get very costly if you have a serious accident - repatriation etc and for a fairly small premium - my wife and I have a joint yearly policy that costs only around £35....do a check on compare de meerkat

Claiming on your home insurance isnt worth it though
Tesco will insure you for about £20!

I have insurance (travel phone breakdown) with my bank. Also have private medical insurance tol

That and if someone at home gets ill and you have to get back to the UK quick.

I had to use it once when my car was broken into at a car park whilst I was out the the country. Paid for the flight back to the UK to secure and move it.

Mainly for hospitalisation and repatriation. Debenhams holiday cover is about £7 a week.
