when the front half window(accidentally) slams/swings closed, and shags the lip on the spring catch by bending it in a bit,

I would advise removing the Offending clip and carefully bending it back to shape with Pliers.
or as I do just Hold the window against the clip every time you need to secure it, Making a mental note to "Sort it at the weekend" Forget and never get round to it :D

Just bend-out it back.

Actually I use to slam the window close,
while holding the catch closed
to bend-in the lip. :!:

Actually, it is a bit of a bugger to get them set right. I've got new catches, and it's a swine adjusting them with the screws, and bending the metal with pliers to fit. And a few weeks later, it needs doing again!

sorry if my message was a bit garbled!(its probably the same now  )
(as jethro said) "what happened waas"- when the window is open, and i get out and close it(1) --it sometimes swings shut with a bang!, thus bending the tip of the lip on the spring catch-
i normally bend said lip back out using a 2p coin
apart from that everything good
(1) i cant fully close it from inside, as i cant pull the glass totally shut

I have fixed a pair of stainless steel self adhesive hooks upside down just above the catches so I can pull the window shut one handed whilst driving..They can be seen in the attached picture
