Driving it! Lots. A family occasion in Devon to take a nephew too. The wind has not been kind but other than that the car has been fun. Barely 50mph on the flat, less sometimes. Then the headwind changes and off we zoom!

Many little things. Found a spark plug wasn't very tight! Cleaned them and replaced but they looked OK anyway. Tightened up the HT leads. Cleaned up after a brief oil cap off incident! Removed and cleaned every earth I could find, and refitted. Removed, cleaned and replugged every lead I could find under the bonnet, with contact cleaner. Retensioned the alternator belt. Threaded through a new speedo cable. Didn't work, I bet the jumping cable broke the speedo with all the bouncing. I have another speedo to try on another day. Various cleanings and sortings. Floor mats out and cleaned the floor pans. Sorted the stuff in the boot. We know how that accumulates.

Drove home and the lights were a bit more flickering then before! Oh well, for another time. Running lovely otherwise.

Some little tinkering, with some cars...

One friend asked to do some preparations for winter, for just recently bought D*lly what hasn't driven much. No more than 83000 km on clock, and no doubt there isn't a digit more. Everything seems to be very low usage at all...

-engine oil and filter
-spark plugs
-plug wires
-123-Ignition
-electronic voltage regulator
-fiddling with an issue with wipers, at some times blows fuse. That was the only place with major wearing, the wiper motor and it's "parking contacts", the output axle is worn so that contacts made short circuits when the windshield was dry
-alternator belt
-carburettor tuning, to get the little hesitation out
-some cleaning under bonnet

And the result, owner was more than happy. Very nice 2CV to drive, no serious rust issues for many years...

Also some repairing to pass the MOT for 110 Defender of one other friend. Just making some kind of contract, I will be servicing for some years and after he doesn't really need that car anymore, will give it to me. Now I can have it if I need to drive, and when the ownership is given to me, he can have it also when he needs that. He knows the value of those, and knows how frustrating is to sell something that have owned from new, this solution looks best for both of us...

That defender didn't have any major issues, but many smaller. Front brakes were stuck, replaced all pistons and baskets (15$ set for one caliber), and brake pads, read brakes were in good condition. All oils and filters, repaired wipers and washer, replaced windshield, tried to seal engine to keep oil inside and washed the engine bay. Nothing to complain at MOT, pleased to drive on the road, and off. Surprising, it wasn't so noisy as expected, noise inside was about same level than 2CV...

Still need to weld some metal sheet to my 4x4 Dyane, and have MOT'd. Little bit tired to wrenching now, after june, have done nothing else than wrenching, when I bought a low mileage C8 V6 with snapped timing belt, and replaced the engine. Too much for me for one summer, but hope to not have big need for repairing for winter...
