So you've got a french style rear plate at both ends now?

Tennessee is one of 19 US states that only issues one number plate that goes on the rear. They haven't issued a front plate in about 40 years.

A North American style plate is too rectangular to fit where the French plate is mounted.

Some people with antique auto plates like me, sometimes just carry the plate with them. I have a friend who has a US spec Fiat X 1/9 that has ran British plates on his car for over 25 years!

I ended up fabricating some brackets and bolted the plate to the rear bumper. I drilled the holes on the underside of the bumper.

I thought about just bending the plate but technically it's illegal to modify a number plate in any way. Also everything on the plate needs to be visible. Allot of motorcycle owners tend to get caught for not displaying their plates properly. For some reason (aerodynamics?)...

On my Trabant, the rear section is large enough for a NA sized plate.

This was what I was talking about in another thread. Having a European style plate made up with the same numbers on the plate that is registered to the car to fit the contour of the body.

I them to make a faux Serbian plate made for my Yugo.

Ok, but I just wondered why you fitted a yellow (rear) french-style plate to the front? Was it just that you couldn't get one the right colour?(black lettering on white).
Personally I think that the original (>1993) silver-on-black, (front and rear), looks much better (but that's just my preference and it's not my car!).

The car came with a yellow plate on the rear and the black/silver on the front.
So I'm not sure what the deal on the mismatched plates were.

The car appears to be a "ringer". Meaning it's got a 7 or 8 digit VIN number (pre 1981 or 1982), the title says it's a 1973 model, bulkhead has been repainted, but the car looks like a late 80s models based on photos I've seen of other 2CVs. Nor is it a real Charleston. If the number on the gearbox means anything, it indicates in maybe an 87 model. If the car has the original gearbox and not one from another car.

I talked to a guy here in the US who knows allot about 2CVs and he said in general allot of these cars have mismatched VINs. So not to worry. The Feds are more concerned with Land Rover Defenders.

Some 2CVs were imported in pieces and reassembled to get them through customs and re-titled as kit cars. When the government caught on to that, they started importing cars with pre 1974 chassis but parts from a later model otherwise. There were companies in California that did the same thing with Mexican built VW beetles. As long as the chassis is pre 1974, it's legal.

The reason I bought a yellow plate was some guy in Quebec had one for $20 on Ebay. Otherwise if I had a set made up it might cost me around $200.

Yeah I kind of like the black/silver style myself. The black/silver plate that was on the front was kind of roughed up anyway.

I've never talked to the actual owner of the car. I may have mentioned this but the guy I bought it from, took the car in lieu of payment for remodeling he did on the owner's house. With the intention that if he came up with the money he would get his car back. But he never did come up with the money so I sort of bought the car out from under him.

I felt kind of guilty because I wouldn't want to give any of my cars up like that. I kind of wonder if the guy's wife may have talked him into doing it. You never know.

Fixed my indicator. The wire fell off the connection. Hopefully it wasn't broken for long, I hate it when people don't indicate.

Amazingly used my Acadiane as a van and transported some furniture, a 3 piece suite, for my daughter. Even the 3 seater went almost in and managed to arrive undamaged, still think it is a wonderful vehicle.

Tried to make a bracket for the hall sensor for the trigger wheel I'm fitting.

Don't really have the tools for this.

Simular to Geo's LPG Ami, but no turbo. .... yet .....

Phase one is to get the CPU running the ignition

Phase two will be LPG injection

Phase three will be petrol injection

I'm still at phase zero, which is install any of the hardware.

I have the pcb's, and am waiting for the enclosure to arrive. Other bits are on there way.
