it's great fun to drive the 57 again after a whole day of c3. Like to play with the old technics, it's really pure 2cv driving. Yesterday i found some nice NOS parts for the 57 in Gemert. A complete centrifugal clutch unit (50 euros) and four boxes with valves for the 425cc engine.(10 euros)

This weekend I have been mostly preparing and painting a new vent flap courtesy of Uncle Roy and then fitting it this afternoon - luckily all the little nuts came off the original without issue - if you have never replaced one they are a little bit of a faff as you have to take the dash off, loosen the heater screen vents and take the windscreen wiper motor and mechanism off so that you can get at all the little nuts - still worth it - looks really good and what with the 4 new wheels I have now, I've only about 99% of the car to replace and it will be like new!

Have an irritating oil leak at a head banjo. Had the car apart and just taking the front cowl off, when I got seriously hailed on.
Hail Bedouin

Replaced the canvas, wires, rubbers and foam on the drivers seat, what a transformation! Still to do the passenger seat when time permits. Kept the existing covers for now.

You need a helicoil kit - not difficult to do if the heads are off - can be done in situ but you have to be constructive in the way you drill out the original thread and then re tap the hole to be able to put the coil in - makes a far better seal than original though so worth the effort...

Nels,
'constructive', or just 'careful'? ;)

Thanks Nels
Have decided to change the engine. Then I can do as you suggest. :)

Oh, bum. I overtightened mine and it leaked. Luckily I was able to get away with just using a new banjo thingy and a freshly annealed washer - it tightened fine, just about.

Damn n blast
The oil cooler bolt on the spare engine is seized.
And I don't have the facilities to remove it.

So, can some one advise me regarding the specs of the helicoil for the head oil banjo please.

I'm guessing M7 pitch = 1 length = 10mm

I have a good understanding of the process.
Drill it
Tap it
Insert helicoil and breakout the tab

Do I have get a special tool because it is a blind hole?
