FJ have recently started asking me for mileages of my cars, but like 2cv4x4 says, they can't ever really prove that's the mileage,I think they expect a level of honesty from thier customers.

I'm with FJ and my insurance is unlimited mileage, with the added benefit of European breakdown cover(I'm a member of RAC, but they want over £100 each time I go to France :x )

Hmm. I don't normally bother with Euro breakdown cover - but did for the AK trip, mostly because it was a borrowed trailer...

£75 for five days for car & trailer - I think the trailer added 60%.

Mark L suggested the outfit he uses (his wife's German, so he's over to the mainland regularly by car) - IIRC about £75 for the year for car only.
http://www.firstcallmotorbreakdown.co.uk/european.cfm

Includes the ability to swap between cars up to four times in the year - PROVIDING the car you're changing to hasn't been covered before in the year.

And it covers a car and trailer as well!!

Parts of the T&C below.

4. Cars, vans, and motorcycles are only eligible up to a maximum 3.5 tonnes gross weight, 5.5 metres (18 feet) in length, 2.3 metres (7 foot 6 inches) wide (excluding campervans).
5. Any caravan or trailer attached to the vehicle must be up to a maximum of 7.6 metres (25 feet) in length at the time of the breakdown.
