I don't want to sound pessimistic, but I'd have thought a value, assuming it's as tidy and original as it looks body-wise, and all in good order mechanically, you'd be looking more like £1500-£1800. Insure for £2k maybe?

I think Adrian had it spot on when he said it's always going to be harder to sell a 4-pot conversion than the twin equivilent, It's hard for me to say 'it's not worth much' without insulting you, which isn't my aim!

i dont insult too easy, espc on the internet. it is a good point that many people arent going to want the extra hassle of a non standard engine, just for a bit more speed. We almost didn't get it for that exact reason. pluss its more fun driving a slow car in a fast manner.

My experience of sidewinders is just that, pushing a ton down the motorway screaming it's tits off is great fun, flashing cars out the way and hogging the outside lane with you RH indicator flashing away is brilliant (when you're in what looks like a 2cv) it's a lovely noise and apart from the poor handling aspect they are brilliant, BUT not as much fun as a stock 602.

As with all cars its worth what you get for it. If the price is pitched at the upper end of what other camparable cars go for and you get your price then thats what its worth.

Both 2CV's and Dyanes were worth so little over here less than two years ago and they have recently doubled from those prices because people want them.

Supply and demand rules.

Just for the record, I flogged my Sidewinder to EalandBob for £500.

I seem to recall it was insured for 1K :?

Before you commit to your policy, try RH Specialist Car Division http://www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk/
My Dyane, 5000m Limited Policy (but they've never asked for a mileage reading......nor for the '71 Morris Oxford I owned before....or the jacked-up Nissan 2.8TDi-powered Range Rover I owned before that.... ;) )

£105 fully Comp.

Give 'em a try, fantastic friendly customer service too. Highly recommended.
