On a related note ... I remember talking to a fellow lorry driver who told me he'd been going down the M40 one night when a copper parked on the hard shoulder opened his door without warning. He couldn't avoid it and took it clean off with the truck cab. Upon stopping and running back, he discovered that the copper had had his glove ripped off by the impact, and that all he could say was "I've shit myself!" over and over. He had, too.
