Hi all,
I am thinking of changing my roof to the old fashioned one piece as per early 2CV. In other words getting rid of the boot lid and having clothe from the windscree to the rear lights. I have tried to contact a few roof makers but nobody is interested just say not available. Anybody got ideas where I can talk too about this. I should think it is not much different in size etc to 2cv

Have you tried Matt's soft tops here in the UK?

I connacted Matts soft tops and Matt was very helpfull. The only way to do it (because bottom of door opening is wider than top) is to have a standard roof made with an extra long tail (and no metal bar) and then the boot area (with a 2cv window) will be popped to the shell as per the roof. The only part that is a concern is the lower edge. The other thing is the strengther at the top will have to be removed and a new one installed on the inside of the shell to allow for the raised area on the shell to run from the windscreen to the back lights. I was going to order one as above but my wife found out my plans and said she would feel safer with metal between us and lorrys etc.

Yes, because the protection factor of 1mm sheet steel against 44 tonnes travelling at 56mph cannot be overestimated ... Aside from anything else, my own personal opinion (which you are free to disregard, obviously) is that a one piece cloth bootlid on a Dyane would not only look all wrong, but would be less practical and useful too.
