 Chassis Change Paperwork
Hi guys,
The chassis in the Charleston needs replacing, and I have no idea what sort of paperwork this is gonna need. Will the car need an SVA afterwards or anything? I don't want to end up with some crappy Q-Plate on it, and seeing other chassis swaps that still keep the original, I assume there's a proper way of doing it.
Is it anything to do with using new/used chassis? Or does it have to conform to some original specs or something? We have been looking at a couple of used galvanised chassis, one of which is pretty much a 2cv with the body off, comes with the v5 and everything else. Is this a bad idea?
And er, I realise I might be opening a can of worms but, what do people recommend for a new chassis, if that's the route we need to take? I think I know one to avoid.
Cheers

 Re: Chassis Change Paperwork
Get an SLC chassis, it'll be the best. Don't worry about a chassis change, most people won't know or care.

You won't need to to anything. Just change the chassis, fit the old vin plate to the new chassis and that's it. It's not a job that requires any paperwork doing and you don't need to notify anybody.
Best chassis is either original Citroen or SLC. PM Ken on here, he makes the SLC chassis.

 Re: Chassis Change Paperwork
On anything younger than the 70s the VIN plate won't even be on the chassis, it's on the bulkhead under the bonnet. I've seen a 2CV body in a scrap yard minus the chassis and the scrap yard refused to sell the body because the VIN plate was on it, even though they had happily sold the chassis on (galv. job apparently). The shell was almost perfect, so God knows why it was there for.

That's good. Sean wrote: and in balance , other, crappy chassis, are available. Yeah, from searching about I think I got a good idea which to avoid.
