My battery trays loose,and both sides bulkhead around tray have
a 2inch long split
is this a common 2cv fault or just mine

Really common, I'm guessing your 2cv is a disc brake car? The older models used to have an extra double thickness plate to prevent this but it was deleted around the time of disc brakes to save money or something, every late 2cv suffers from this, and ecas, I believe, sell a battery tray strengthening device to stop it going further. |

Yep, up until the early 80s? Citroen fitted a bracket under the battery tray to help support the weight. Cost cutting meant on later cars all the weight bares on the flimsy bulkhead - cracks were common after 12 months back then! ECAS sell this:  http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/battery-s ... p-522.html |

Thanks for all replies,ive already been cutting steel this after noon to repair and make a strengthener bracket,coudnt believe how flimsy the bulkhead is there,

Cracks in the bulkhead will fail the MOT and will need to be welded before adding the bulkhead support bracket. (if they can be seen under the bracket obviously  )

Welded my split bulkhead and added an ECAS frame a couple of years ago. No probs since. |

Mine has a very bad crack here too, will be welding it up and making a strengthening piece which I will spot weld behind, will look neater than the Ecas plate. The thickness of the bulkhead metal is just ridiculous. |
