Hi all, i have a 72 Dyane and some of the parts im not sure about, it came with 2 starter handles, one with a metal coil around the handle and one without. anyone know why this is?? also had some metal foot plates (this is what they look like) i think they are stainless as had rust works on them but all came off with wire wool and shines up nice, can any one tell me what they are? Regards, Adam. |

Adam, the starting handle with the coil is probably the older (and better) version, they certainly seem easier to use. ![]() Those stainless parts are screwed onto the inner face of the sills and are intended to protect the joins in the door seals from being caught by the driver's or passengers' feet, I think. ken |

At one time I had a 1969 Dyane and one from 1982. It was amazing how many things had been stripped off over the years of "development". For example, the earlier cars had more little rubber pads to stop the bonnet rubbing on the wings. The older starter handle had the coil on it to make it easier on your hands when turning the engine over. The later ones can cause friction burns, but were cheaper and easier to make. By the way, the plural of Dyane is Dyanes. Of course, you can talk about your Dyane's starter handles. |

Or indeed your Dyanes' starter handles. If you have more than one Dyane ... ![]() |

the cross member from the b pillars was "developed" too from a robust piece of chunkyness to a 2cv like flimsiness. |
