Post A Ghost of a Chance
Way back in about 1989 the BBC re-screened a short film "A Ghost of a Chance" that was originally shot some twenty years earlier in 1968, The film was shown as a part of BBC's 'Friday Film Specials' & IIRC, it appeared after John Craven's Newsround as part of the CBBC schedule. The story follows three children who have overheard the derelict mansion they use as a clubhouse is due to be demolished, they befriend a pair of ghosts that haunt the house & between them they prevent its destruction. The cast included Terry Scott, Bernard Cribbins, Ronnie Barker & Patricia Hayes.

My school friend Paul taped it off the TV & we watched it time & time again 20+ years ago - eventually though his mum taped over & i've been on the lookout for it ever since... Myself & Will have often reminisced about it - in fact, i believe he has a copy of the entire film. Youtube has yielded a short clip containing the biggest star of all... A Slough built 2CV! I'm quite sure that the 2CV features throughout the film.

Anyone else familiar with it?

Enjoy! :)

It's funny how film-makers want the 2CV to drive like that in every movie it's in. Un-even breaking and quick steering side to side. The tendency is also there when DS's is in the movies... Guess great suspension is great to watch

I remember this film very well, there is a great scene with the 2cv rambling over a golf course 8-)
I think London Films made a series of these kid's films, all very entertaining, I would love to see them again.

Sadly I don't have the film but I think Jasonthegerman (who frequents the 2cvgb forum) has a copy. Keep meaning to blag it and copy it. It would be ace to see it again in its entirely. I seem to remember there were some cool dashboard shots where the 'invisible' ghost is driving the car. Brilliant!

No way...I remember this film! It was shown on a rainy day at my primary school on a reel to reel, they had a run of these kids films that got brought out when lessons got cancelled etc

I remember some classmates shouting "urgghh thats your mum's car!" when the 2cv appeared.

The reaction from the bloke at 1.05 should accompany every journey in a 2cv I reckon.
