Five weeks tomorrow (16th September) I'll be up very early and leaving Worcester around 4:30/5am and heading north to Aberdeen to catch the overnight ferry to Lerwick on Shetland. My question is, does anybody know if there are any 2CVs on Shetland or whether I'll be the only one there in a 2CV? Thought it would be cool to get a photo with a local 2CV, if any exist. :)

North of Inverness is the furthest north i know of

suspect that the constant horizontal spindrift off the sea will have rotted out any ( its so windy there are no trees)

there was someone heading that way over on 2cvGB was it you?
( i cant remember my own name half the time)

Not me on the 2CVGB Forum, I don't use it. Surprisingly, there are some trees on Shetland

Here's the most northerly woodland in the British Isles, on the most northerly inhabited island in the British Isles, the island of Unst.

I visited the Shets for a week in June 2005,I only saw one 2CV the whole time, and that was on foreign plates [bear in mind it was just before Kelso,so every chance they were enjoying Scotland before the WM].
Be sure to take in all three [main] islands .....and beware, once you start heading North, petrol stations are hard to find ....its about 70 miles from the southern tip of "Mainland" to the Northern tip of "Unst" .....and some of the roads will play havoc with your fuel consumption.
Enjoy .... ;)

Cheers Terry, I most certainly intend visiting as many of the islands as possible including Unst and Fair Isle. :)

I only visited Unst,Yell,Bessay,Fetar & Whalesay [whilst staying at Scalloway on Mainland] .....be sure to see the Prehistoric Village though [I cant remember off-hand exactly where it is ... :? ]
The pubs in Lerwick were positively buzzing at night,we found Scalloway quiet & peaceful..
