Post piston with 7.9 compression
Hello,

Does anybody knows where you can buy a piston set with 7.9 compression?
Like the ones original mounted on the next on the motor A06/642, A06/644, a06/664.

I'm rebuilding an engine for my 2cv6. I want my engine to be able to run on ron95 fuel and when necessary on ron92 fuel.
This because I use the car most of the time for travelling. And I already saw that is sometimes difficult to find ron95 fuel (Russia, eastern Europe countries,...).

But know I only find piston sets with 8.5 or 9.0 compression. Therefore I hope that somebody knows where to find a set with 7.9 compression.

Regards

SanderV,
I've got a brand new pair of 7.9:1 pistons here, which I'd sell or swap for a set of new 8.5/9.0:1 pistons, as long as they're not Argentinian...

Alternatively, why don't you fit some copper cylinder head gaskets, as that would reduce the effective CR of a set of 8.5:1 pistons to about 8.0:1 depending on the thickness of copper used?
I did that many years ago to make a Dyane engine more suitable for towing a heavy trailer.

The original piston and cylinders are not in top condition, they are good enough to do some more miles. But because I already dismantled the motor it is easy to place a new set. And then I know the motor is good to do another 150000km (at least I hope so).

I will send you a pm about this new set you have. it would be great to get these 8-)

True,
but Sander and I have reached something of an impasse, as I'd prefer that he bought a set of standard pistons and barrels in Belgium, then swap the pistons for the 7.9.1 pair which I've got.

Postage of a complete barrel and piston set from the UK to Belgium would be rather expensive at almost £40, even just the pistons would be £12... :(

If Sander can wait until October, and turn up at Spa....

Yeah it is very expensive to send them over to Belgium.
I Hope I will find another set that is closer to the place I live.

Otherwise I can try to come to Spa in october, but I'm not sure that I will be free that weekend.

regards
