Yes Russ but isn't everthing in this brave new world a sad shadow of what we had before? We all know it but, protest nowt. Anyway I had a great day largely due to those unpaid people that must have worked so hard to organise this event. All the Best

I have just got back from the LtoB. It was an absolutely great day. There must have been about sixty cars there from the ordinary to the stunning including an out of this world Pemberton. Plus all the quirky characters that comprise 2cv owners and even the famous young Mr Wallace with his mate. Yes it was a truly memorable day. Thanks to everyone that made it happen. |

If you can, beg borrow or steal the videos from the late 80s or early 90s. I'm sorry to say that today's l2b is a sad shadow of it's former self. I felt a little sad wandering round the field today, although it was nice to catch up with people I've not seen for a while. Anybody got any photos to post? |

Unfortunately, despite the effort put in by those who organise it (no complaints there) it barely attracts a tenth of the cars it once did, and because fewer people go each year, the next year fewer still bother to go. It should have been wound up a few years back and replaced with something new and different. I was part of a convoy of over 6 wollies, and when one D*lly owner drew level with the self appointed convoy leader (who after a minute had lost 4 cars) he was given a dressing down and called a 'silly little boy'. The convoy never reached 50mph. An utter waste of my petrol, should have gone direct to hove. |

With the cost of petrol these days it's an expensive day out and London just isn't the place to start a convoy. I managed to stay with cars ahead of me for a good few miles then when I missed a green light and got left behind I kept an eye on ones behind me and when I held back to allow them to catch up...they turned off just before they got to me, so I then spent the rest of the 50mile drive by myself(a cracking convoy that  ) Got to Hove and there wasn't a decent eatery/pub nearby and the whole experience was just a bit flat. My fault really, it's been a very long time since I've done a London to Brighton(with my old Morris Minor) and I'd forgotten how daft the idea of having a convoy through London actually is. Never mind.

Oh...And why is it called London to Brighton? It's Brent to Hove   Morris Minor club go (or did) from Battersea Park and end up parking on Madeira Drive on Brighton seafront where the Veteran cars finish. |

Agree with many of the sentiments here- it was a good day out, but not a patch on it's former self. It was my first in a couple of years and each year is a sad shadow of the last. As we were leaving Hove park myself and Mrs Ouvrier remarked how when we attended our first in 1993 there were around a thousand cars which of course took up a goodly portion of the park. The convoy had been a sight to behold and there was a real party atmosphere; many proper trade stands and competitions, fun and games. Maurice and co (as always) did a really good job of organising the event, but I wonder how sustainable it is these days. Question is, what are we going to do about it? |

i was the likely lad who got the dressing down!!!! anyway i never went to a old school L2B so i dont know what you lot have expereinced, to me being new, ish to the scene i find its an ok event, theres not enough to do, there what? 3 trace stands, 2 2cvgb stands and a few old boys with some bits ( figure of speech) there was a burger van, just the one, and an ice cream van. and a small coffee thing too, and that was it im sincerely greatful to the effort put in by the organisers of the event who go to such lengths to put this on, however i feel for the £7 you pay, you get a sticker, a patch of grass, and able to wonder round a very few stands i could park outside, walk in, purchase my sticker for L2B run for 2011 for a quid, and save myself 6 quid now i wouldnt do that but just saying, !! ill go next year anyway 'cos its not that far for me, but i think russ is right it needs a new direction, just to mee seems that the general air is "same old" maybe change of location, allowing dare i say it more trade stands, more burger vans, cheaper entrance, more activites to do, anything to keep people entertained, |
