Post Don't use tesco petrol!!!
Stuck a tenner in the car yesterday, as it was very low. As I was at work I filled up there, now, I normally don't use tesco as a rule and this is the reason-

Nice big chunk of silicone clogged the filter, this is the second time this has happened, so heed my warning fellow motorists!

i topped up on the low octane stuff recently as i was also desperate and near a tesco garage, now i always use low octane as i cant afford the high octane stuff, and so as usual filled car up with low octane, the performance was dreadful, as was the mpg, never ever do i buy tesco fuel again
put a tank of high octane to wash the crappy fuel out
im sure my piss has more bang than tesco fuel

Don't use Tesco full stop. Horrible place, like all supermarkets.

Tesco might not be the evil monster but have a look at this, try to avoid ethanol at all times in 2cv. http://fbhvc.co.uk/bio-fuels/

Where can we buy the additive to prevent corrosion?

What's the carb body actually made of? The FBHVC link reckons aluminium will be OK, but I suspect there's a lot of zinc in there? I can't really see it having a huge effect on most of the metal parts of the fuel system...

What sort of plastic is the standard tank made from?

Bear in mind that standard French 95RON has been E-10 (10% Ethanol) for several years now, and that UK 95RON allows up to E-5 within the spec.
