Just discovered the world of CycleKarts which was mentioned on the Vintage Minor Register forum. They're a modern version of Cyclecars from the 1920s. I would love to build and race one.

Here's a video from the US that gives a flavour of what it is about.

Thats brilliant!

At first I thought they didnt have a engine. Just rolling down a hill. That would be fun too.

Ones without engines are Gravity Racers. Red Bull does an annual gravity racing tournament (at least they did before Covid) they call Soapbox Racing

While the 2CV remains garaged at a friend's house around 40 miles away, I've been occasionally using the Morris for short-ish journeys throughout the current lockdown (shopping trips to one of the local supermarkets). This afternoon saw a grey day turn sunny and springlike, finally, so I decided to take the Morris for a short run... and ended up doing 35 miles around the Worcestershire countryside

It's a really enjoyable little car to pootle along in, so I'm definitely looking forward to longer trips out from next week when restrictions ease. I have Fish Hill on the A44 over the Cotswolds at Broadway in my sights. It was on the Morris Motors factory test route in the 1920s and 1930s. Even the 2CV struggles up that incline!!

When I finally get back behind the wheel of the Deuche it's going to feel very civilised and modern

You won't know what to do with all that HP!

I have already experienced a drive in the 2CV immediately after a good run out in the Minor... The Deuche feels so much more powerful and modern in comparison  And the Minor was the genesis for the M.G. Midget from 1929 right up to the MG A of 1955.

You'll note I use both M.G. and MG. They were mostly M.G. pre-war, then MG after it. :ugeek:

When new in 1932? 19.25 brake horsepower. Today? God knows! But I doubt it still produces the factory figure.

Strangely, the side-valve engine which replaced the earlier, complicated, and expensive to build, OHC engine was within 1 BHP of the previous engine's 20 BHP. Though later OHC variants fitted to M.G.s could kick out a 'massive' 54 BHP, while a sprint version of the M.G. Q-Type fitted with a high-pressure Zoller supercharger produced a demonic 146 BHP!!
