I like what azl mentioned 2 x 6 volt batteries.
You could have a relay to switch all the circuits from one to the other for running and charging.

I wonder if you could get two small 6v motorcycle batteries, or are they all 12v these days?

Edit

It would appear there are loads of them. :D

Then it comes down to cranking amps for a pair of them. What will the new 12v starter pull in amps?

I guess, the warrant has passed a few months ago ?

Same here with our boiler.
The warrant was 2 years and the heat exchanger burnt down just after 2 years and two months.
So I had to buy a new boiler.

Here's the link to the starter motor. https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/ ... tegory/238
Doesn't appear to mention amps.

Thanks chaps. I knew about the eBay advert beforehand. I'll be taking another look at things over the coming weeks and months. I'll be concentrating my efforts on the 2CV first, though.

Just watched this newly uploaded video of vehicles arriving at Brooklands New Year's Day 2018 classic meeting and sadly no sign of any 2CVs. There's an H-Van and at least two Dyanes (one looks like Matt Damper's), at least two DSs and an SM. There's some real rarity like a Panhard PL17, a Renault 8 and a Tatra 603. There's a very early Austin Seven 'Chummy' with scuttle mounted headlamps. And there's EVEN a Maestro van!! How rare must those things be in 2018? But tragically there appear to be no 2CVs! A sad day.

This week's (out today) episode of The Grand Tour has Bill Bailey and Dominic Cooper racing each other in a Jaguar F-Type. During the interview, Bill Bailey mentions he has a DS and did own a Dyane. Dominic Cooper learned to drive in a 2CV. Clarkson's response wasn't too bad, to be honest. He just said that it must be hard going from a 2CV to driving a normal car as the controls are so weird in a 2CV.

Weird controls in a 2CV ?
Obviously this man has not the slightest notion of cars.
