Short update on the Minor: Starter motor is still down in Lerwick. They have apparently found a company who can supply the brushes, so I'm just waiting on that. Since the car has been in Shetland it has been hidden from view, with only a very few people knowing about its existence up here. Now it's been sat in the garage up the road, it has become a bit of a star, with everybody asking questions about it. Only this morning a local has enquired about hiring it for their wedding.

Productive day today. Headed down to Bixter, on Shetland Mainland, this morning to visit the island VW garage to buy a new set of windscreen wipers. Expected them to last longer than 16k miles, but hey ho. After lunch at Hay's Dock Resturant in Lerwick, and shopping at Tesco, I headed home. Just whipped the driver's side wing off the front of the Deuche and set about doing the best fix I possibly could to the massively blowing exhaust. All nice 'n' quiet now, and gas-tight too. Let's see how long that'll last.

Bloody computers, eh? Who'd 'ave 'em? My laptop has spent the best part of the past 24hrs undergoing 'updates'. Left it to do its thing at 11:15pm last night, and on my return home from work this evening it was STILL updating!! Doesn't bode well for self-driving cars. Can you imagine traffic hurtling down a motorway at 70mph and a number of them suddenly shutting down for 'updates'? Doesn't bear thinking about.
