So as the daylight faded there was a break in the rain so I shot round to the Morris and took it on a 6 mile round trip to the petrol station. That included a climb up quite a big hill in 2nd. Almost had to stop and select 1st as I approached the top, but the old thing just managed it 2nd. It struggled more on the journey back, but it did get me there without stopping. Don't know when I'll get the opportunity to play with it again. Work and bad weather seem to be conspiring against me. Here are two very short videos taken earlier. The second one was taken just after I returned from the 6 mile drive.

In the Golf there are no hills. In the 2CV and Minor there are massive mountains to climb.

Thanks Geert and Ian, that's very kind of you both. :)

So I've not done much with the Minor over the past 10 days or so, but I did manage to spend about an hour tinkering with it on Monday. The engine was clearly over-choking and fouling the spark plugs quite badly. I decided to try to weaken the mixture a little, but things haven't gone to plan. Car isn't running well at all. I'm hoping to spend a bit of time on it tomorrow after work. Battery has been removed and recharged.

If anyone spots a Mercedes with the registration number JO 5914, burn the bugger! It's got my Minor's original ID, and I want it back!

How did that transfer come about, with your Morris still on the road.?

Update on the 1932 Minor 2-seater. The starter motor is causing me some grief at the moment. I've not spent much time with the car, given we're still in winter and it's bloody freezing, but at least the days are now getting appreciably longer. When it arrived in Shetland back in January it was dark just after 3pm, but it's now light until after 6pm. Just need it to warm up a tad, then I can start tinkering with the engine.
