Post Re: The O/T thread!
think outside the (Citroën) box! H-vans gone up in value (or at least what people pay for them) sooo much the last couple of years, I think it is ridiculous! almost as bizarre as the prices of Vdub T1 vans..

there are many more affordable old vans that will also need some work, but probably are more 'driveable' remind you, a H-van tops at about 60 MP/h (only 3 speed gearbox and you use 3rd gear from 25 mp/h to the end...) noisy, badly constructed (3 or 4 layers of untreated metal on top of eachother) nearly impossible to weld the sheetmetal and replacementparts are just to expensive.

so keep the 2CV's, and get yourself any other (not yet popular) van
do you have the Merc 206 (207) over there? I like it a lot and those are about 10% of the price of a H-van
Renault Master (Fugly, but affordable!)
or even an Vdub T25 (first 'square' vdub van) are more affordable!
VW LT, nice square, spacious as well

all of these can be made up into a cool van, accessories and paintjob will do wonders.

But hey if you want an H-van you want an H-van (same probably with Iphone, if you want one, you want one.... )

good luck finding something suitable!

I tried a T25 earlier this year. Fun to drive. Was about to make a bid when I asked the seller what the mpg was...

Friend of mine has had an LDV Convoy for years. Cheap to buy and run, and pretty reliable. They're so ugly and uncool that they're kind of appealing.

I had one it was a great van but like you said MPG, it was the 1600CT engine which was crap, always felt like you were being pulled along the road by a huge elastic band

it was slow too, worse of both worlds slow and thirsty. Someone drove his brand new Ka ,as in coming home from the showroom new, into the side of it and wrote it off. Never got a bean for insurance as the Police put it down to 50/50 despite the 10' rubber stripes on the road and T boning me while i was turning left off the main road

Question for the Dutch guys, or the Germans even.
Do your banks have money?! That's not a question about the state of your economy, but do they have cashiers, could I walk into one and ask them to change a big euro note into several smaller euro notes?
May sound like a strange question, obviously we can in the UK, but the French don't seem to. There you can put money in a hole in the wall, or get money out of a hole in the wall, but only if your account is there. If you want to talk to someone its just an office. I was wondering if that's a Europe thing, or just the French being awkward?

Most Dutch banks don't have cash... Only out of the wall.. Go to a official casino, (some days entance is free) change the money for chips. play 1 game (OR NOT) mostly theres free food... and change the chips for small money, I guess that will work...

@ Joolz, in the bigger cities, airports and big railway stations there are exchange offices, there you can exchange your money. also still in many bigger banks there will still be people available, but if they will still exchange your money? I'm not 100% sure. tell me what city you'r thinking of and I can inform for you if you'd like!

greetzzzzzzzzzz

We're going to the biggest town, Amsterdam, so I'm sure I can find something there. I can easily ask when I get there.
