Post Re: The O/T thread!
90 years ago today my Morris passed down the assembly line at the Cowley Works, so I couldn't pass the opportunity to pootle down over the Cotswolds to Oxford and return the Minor to its 'birthplace'. The site is now occupied by the Oxford Business Park, which is accessed off Garsington Road by a roundabout with an obelisk called the Nuffield Needle. I parked on Alec Issigonis Way and took a couple of photos. On the way down I somehow managed to catch up a rather gorgeous 1921 Calcott a few miles east of Moreton-in-Marsh. We ended up in a two car convoy for the next 16 miles until we reached Woodstock and they pulled into a hotel/pub car park. A total of 155 miles done today. 8-)

Post Re: The O/T thread!
On Thursday I'll be embarking on a massive journey across country in the Minor. I'll need to get from Worcester to the Suffolk/Norfolk border near Bury St. Edmunds for the Pre-War Minor Network's Summer Tours weekend. It's a 180 mile/290kms drive. Given the car's comfortable driving speed is about 40mph/70km'h it's pretty much back roads, definitely no motorways, and will take most of the day to do it. I've already plotted a route to put into Google Maps, so today I've followed the route in the Golf to the halfway point at Woburn, in Bedfordshire. I certainly wasn't pootling along but it still took me 2 1/2 hours to travel the 90 miles. I'll be aiming for an average of 30mph/50km'h, so hopefully I'll manage 90 miles in about 3 hours. All good fun

Sounds like a lot of fun Jonathan. Such a cool little car.

Thanks for your kind words Ian. Well, I made it! Left Worcester just before half eight this morning and arrived at the B&B at half past five. I had a number of stops along the way so I could enjoy a coffee and some exercise. I've still managed to do 9000 steps after driving a 90-year-old wooden box 180+miles.

The little Minor wasn't used during the day on Friday, but come the evening the weekend events started with a gathering at The Grumpy Goat in Bardwell, so I popped down the road to the venue in the Morris. Since then it has managed around 260 miles on top of the 185 miles on the journey over on Thursday. I'm heading back to Worcester tomorrow. I've had a number of navigators aboard during the two tours and all of them have said the car is very well sorted and running as sweet as a nut.

Oh, and I'm this year's recipient of the Brian Maeers Claret Jug Trophy presented because of my enthusiastic use of the car over the last 18 months (totalling 6,000 miles by the time I return home tomorrow evening) and handed to me by Brian's daughter, Janie, who now owns the 1929 Minor 4-seat Tourer he father owned from the 1950s until his death around 8 years ago. I feel very honoured and humble.

I'm back home after an epic 600-mile, long-weekend. The little wooden box on wheels didn't miss a single beat on the entire journey. I'm just utterly amazed and in awe of the car. We're both enjoying a well earned rest now.

Attended Pre-war Prescott in the Morris yesterday. Got quite uncomfortably hot by the afternoon and it wasn't as hot as it's going to be today and the next few days! :(
If you want me you'll find me loitering around the freezer section at my local supermarket until Wednesday

Very O/T, not even near to 2CV...

Just wondering if here is someone near Osset? There is one vintage RC helicopter on Ebay, ending sunday 12:52 PM. The problem is , the seller won't be interested to send it to Finland, prefers collect the item...

Morley RC helicopter

So, if someone here could help me to get it, if I win the bidding (one bid yet, not me), could arrange collecting and may disassemble a little (tail, landing gear etc), pack it to decent box and arrange sending to me, I will pay some more than what it cost. Import dutys of course when it arrives here and so on...

There is another one, what the seller could send here, and the freight cost is with that about £65. That is not an issue, the price of that (near £400) is...

I know there is high risk with freight, because this kind of old machine was very fragile when new and now more fragile. But if the price keeps under £100 I could take that risk...

Not hurry yet, tomorrow is another story...
