Hey guys and gals,
I'm looking at getting some of the lower stiffer springs for my much loved 2cv I'm restoring. I'm just curious as to how they would fair on the road ? I'm not worried about a hard ride, just don't want to get my teeth knocked out when I go over a small pebble ! Haha ! Any info will be appreciated :)
Thanks
Cuzzy x

They are fine for the road, you get much less body roll although you do notice bumps a lot more, it will ruin Citroens excellent work making such a comfortable car. I find it's made the steering response feel sharper too, as a result of it not rolling about like a cross channel ferry.

If you were more local you'd be welcome to pop over, drive mine and see.

I agree with Russell, you can feel the bumps more but it's worth it for the 'go kart' style handling you get from them, the car really does drive well. Others that have also driven my car have said its great to drive and my brother told me i had to build him one after he had a go at spa race track.

I would recomend getting the front arms turned if your running low

You cut the end off the front suspension arm round the weld where the kingpin eye is and turn it 5-10mm forward and weld it on again. It puts the kingpin back to the same angle it was at when the car was at standard height, making the steering lighter and preventing premature wear. You can also add a bit of negative camber for really twitchy steering.

you also need to have perfect shocks and have them fitted right or it overwhelms the rebound dampening and it tends to buck after a compression.
