right so i had this crazy idea, to which some of you will dis like or like,

many of us see spares on ebay, that we want to bid on, sometimes just for the sake of it, or sometimes if we need the spares,
now if someone on here wants something (needs) and someone else on here is bidding (For the sake of it) maybe we should make each other aware what were bidding on and then we can keep price down? maybe its not a good idea but maybe it is??

also people can offer advice on whether something is to expensive / if they find parts on ebay (i know theres a ebay / leboncoin thread but this could be purely for parts?)

so this is what im looking at, is it to expensive? my linkage needs replacing, but i saw this on ebay...

To be honest its worth what your willing to pay for it! if you post on here and disclose what your willing to bid for it you'd prob find some sneaky bugger who has there eye on it to or who you draw there attention to it will then stick the next bid up in on it and win it instead of you winning it.

That's why you still believe such altruistic behaviour is likely James. Nice thought that it is it's not the way it works out there. ;)

That's the highest I'd expect to pay for one at a breakers yard (more likely a fiver). It may be in "GWO", but that still doesn't mean that the spindles aren't leaky, and you won't know until you have it fitted. If they do leak (few don't) then it's either a good old splodge of silicone grease to fix if you're lucky, or new spindles at £28 each.

I suggest you go read the enterprise act 2002 and the auction act of 1927 and 1969. The whole point of auctions is that bidding is supposed to take place freely. Agreements to interfere with free bidding on an auction opens the door to the vendor to sue all the participants for his loss and carries a maximum sentence of 5 years. Similarly it is illegal for the vendor to drive up the price by bidding on his own auctions.

Clearly that won't happen with 10 quids worth of wiper rack, but the fact is that to set up a ring on a public forum and use it systematically has the potential for all sorts of interesting consequences.

I seem to remember that the first person was prosecuted for shill bidding on Ebay auctions recently so Ebay isn't immune from normal auction legislation.

Or you take a leaf out of your very own book:-

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, some good, some bad. If you can hold on to your faith everything will turn out the way it's supposed to.
