Post Project Porsche Power!
Yesterday I went to a local Halfrauds branch (a rare event!) and as soon as I got out of the car a man approached me and asked if my car was for sale. I said it wasn't but said I could help him to find one.

He told me that his name was Kevin Cox and that he's a professional car mechanic with an interest in driving modified cars at Nurburgring. After crashing his Pug 205 1.9GTI at the circuit his car was taken to one of the industrial units at the track. Inside were a number of highly modified Q-cars including a Cinquecento which had easily outpaced his own car; he discovered the secret was that it had a Toyota straight-6 shoehorned into it. He met a German lady at the unit who also works in the motor trade and found that she's very much into putting Q-cars onto the track.

One particular project she told him of is her desire to create a Porsche-engined 2CV, but she explained to him that in Germany 2CV's are far more scarce and expensive than in the UK. Kevin and the lady have since become friends and he's now trying to help her to find a suitable donor; she often contacts him to see if anything has turned up, especially before her regular trips to deliver vehicles to the UK.

I posted a message on Facebook yesterday and within hours had a response which I've passed on. I've no idea whether the deal will go ahead, but the car involved needs new floors and a bulkhead if it's to pass the next MOT due shortly and the current owner lacks the time to do so, and if left it's only going to worsen so it's better than letting the car rot away completely. In any case, the manky bits are all those which will likely need major modifications for the conversion to occur, so are no loss. In the meantime, if anyone else has a suitable donor then PM me and I'll put you in touch. The donor needs to be within easy reach of SE England or like the car offered so far, able to be driven to the SE.
