I'm only 18 - I've got a mobylette and a honda insured with footman james, I phoned up and asked for a hypothetical quote for my van about 2 weeks ago, they seemed very happy about it and offered me £800 full comp. which doesn't seem at all bad for my age!

When did they stop insuring people under 25? :?

sounds like postcode lottery

they wouldnt quote for me, at all, which seems wierd as ive been driving longer and am older, than you!

Did you phone them up? Their website won't let anyone under 25 get a quote, but they were fine about it when I phoned up. I wish they would play something other than spring of the four seasons though... :x

Edit: Ah, I've just seen the 'Footman James insurance' thread, I'm clearly out of date

tbh george, I phoned up several classic car insurence companys, and they passed me around several companys many times, all said the same thing, i went in a circle for hours, speaking (un knowingly) to the same few companys!

Its about time the goverment stepped in and made life easier for young drivers, whatever we do we get shot down, yess statistically we crash more which is fair enough, but i bet in 10 years time my insurence will still be sky high! and theyll think of a reason!

I've got to ring up and insure a car tomorrow, and it's probably going to be with FJ or PJ, and I'd forgotten about the hours listening to Vivaldi. Not so excited about it now.

I wasn't excited about it anyway, but y'know...

There's a new company advertising in 2cvGB this month, RH insurance. I asked for a written quote for Hetty and their letter of reply says:

Quote:
We have referred your application for a quotation to the underwriters and regret to advise that in this instance as the details do not conform to the insurers strict underwriting criteria, we have been unable to obtain a quotation on your behalf.

That was me, at 24, asking for agreed value at £4000 on a '69 2cv limited to 5000 miles, fully comp.
