A couple of questions I have. (Channelling Yoda!)

Looking at this 1953 car I notice some differences from Alphonse (my 1957 model).

Setting aside the leather seats as opposed to my later vinyl and cloth units, what's with the front bumper? Is that an original or is it a bodge job? I was chatting to a bloke at a swap meet last weekend who also has a 1953 car and he was telling me that the Slough front bumper came from the same factory as the Morris Minor ones. (And that his car has a bumper he created from a Morrie unit! Aussie ingenuity at its best.)

And the little back window. Did this change later to full width or is mine a later replacement? My car has a perspex window the full width and the roof stops at the top of it. I've been informed by the previous owner that he put a new roof on in 1967 or thereabouts, so maybe it's a later one on mine? (Photo attached)

Mind you, the green car is just beautiful and it's probably a good thing it came up after Alphonse or I might have got into trouble trying to mortgage the house to buy it!

Cheers, Pottsy

Small back window is original. Yours must have been modified at some time.

What intrigued me was its having right hand drive as well as the battery located on the right: I would have expected it to be on the opposite side to the steering position. Any comments?

I think the bodies of slough cars were just shipped from France(in lhd form) and they only drilled holes for the steering column etc when they got to slough, and plated the other ones up.

That's a nice looking car, I wonder if the colour's original? Looks like Vauxhall reed green.

Slough 2CVs did indeed have Morris Minor bumpers, they were rear bumpers fitted both ends and the over-riders were cut off below the bumper line.

rear bumper is A35 van front bumper is morris minor. some had overriders some didnt. those thar did the overriders have got the bottom cut off. wish i could get pics on here id show you what i mean. rear window was plastic not glass. the slough cars were actually made in the uk and to keep the tax laws happy at the time had to use as many english parts as possible to make them english cars. hence the bumpers (MM) electrical system lights (lucas) starter cables and choke cables also morris minor as well as other bits to many to mention. quite a few were expoted to far away places such as australia thailand south africa. india and so on. total left in the uk maybe 20 on the road at present 2-3 including ours. dad has now taken ownership of the slough register that ccc ran (from david conway) hes currantly updating all the info. if you want to know more contact John on 01453 542220 hes always happy to talk slough
