i had to pick up a computer chair from Dartmouth this afternoon & as the van is only 20 or so miles away in Salcombe i decided i'd better go & take a look... I haven't seen the van since about 1994/5 when it was owned by a chap called Alaistair Harbord. When we started up the local 2cvGB group the 'Devon Corn wollies' back in 1993 he had the van then. It was always very smart & well looked after. I disappeared off the radar until it was listed on eBay last week.

I was pretty shocked to see it TBH, i know the passage of time can be harsh on most things, but i was pretty upset to see how badly it's gone down hill. The chassis *looks* ok - certainly the top plate has a big hole & there's water thats settled on the bottom skin inside. The upper bulkhead/bonnet hinge area is totally shot - think there a hole the full width of the bulkhead. The rear wings are fibreglass - the fuel & spare wheel panels are rough, the side rails are holed, the rear doors are knackered, rear valance appears ok, but i think it's probably constructed of glenn miller. Front wings are dead, front bumper's missing, rot around the rear windows etc. On the plus side - the lower bulkhead looks proper solid, the passenger sill also looks good. The windscreen is cracked & the tax disc in the window is from 1999.

If you're considering it my advice would be to think long & hard. It is saveable - look at Will's 250 weekend. This is no easy project - it needs pretty much everything, although it appears to be all there minus the dashhboard & front bumper. This is a MAJOR project & it was a lot worse than i'd hoped.

I'll post some pictures when i've uploaded them...
